5 Ways To Wear An Oversized Long Cardigan

Updated: May 17, 2022

Hi all, hope you're doing well! Find out how I'll be styling this super comfortable, long and chunky cardigan.

So, we've finally made the big decision to buy our own house. To anyone who's gone through this process already, you know what I'm talking about when I'm saying that "IT'S SO STRESSFUL!"

We upgraded in space and somehow downgraded in storage space. I used to have a small walk-in wardrobe at our previous place but now, I'm working with an even smaller space. All my clothes are very crammed in on hangers and all my folded clothes are all over the place, stacked into massive piles.

Don't pity me too much as I'll be building my dream walk-in wardrobe soon! Words cannot describe just how much I'm looking forward to that.

But until I do that, I'll keep rummaging through my piles of clothes and come up with different outfits inspiration. Hope you like it!

  1. With Over the Knee Boots

I've had these over the knee boots from Stuart Weitzman for about 3 years now. I found them at the Russell & Bromley Outlet Store on Oxford Street for (drums please) £69!!! The catch is that they used to be bright red and a couple of black marks on the suede. I've decided to buy them on the spot as they were such a good price and possibly resell.

But one day I've had the very brilliant idea of dyeing them black. Not going to bore you with the details too much but the process was pretty long with having to do many coats and the end result is a very dark aubergine colour which I really like but they're not black. But I'm very happy with them and wear them all the time.

I'm wearing a high waisted suede skirt from Topshop, a simple silk shirt from Jil Sander in olive green and my small Dolce & Gabbana bag I had for years.

2. With Chunky Boots

I've always been into chunky boots, they're just so damn cool!

For this outfit, I've decided to go a bit grey. I love mixing different shades of grey together and different textures. I'm wearing a cropped, boxy cashmere top, high waisted skinny jeans from H&M and this awesome All Saints "Freedom" suede bag. This bag was totally inspired by Claire Dunphy from Modern Family. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, my Fiancé and I were watching Modern Family and saw Claire's bag which was something I've been after for a long time. Love tassels on bags and these particular tassels are just everything as there's so much of them and heavy so they stay in place. I started searching for "suede tassel bags" on google and then "Claire Dunphy suede tassel bag". Long story short, I ended up finding it on eBay (where I find so many amazing things) was in near perfect condition and paid £58.

3. With a Fedora Hat

Here we go again, I had to do it! :)) I LOVE HATS! I acquired 2 more hats from Hicks & Brown , they're the Brantham collection. I was notified they have a sale online and found the Grey and the Cinnamon one in size XS. You'll probably be seeing a lot of these hats!

Paired this one with my grey H&M high wasted skinny jeans, my Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots, a sleeveless, high neck top in dark camel and my vintage Chanel Bag.

4. With Slip on Backless Mules

Backless shoes are just so easy to wear, I find myself wearing this style of shoes most of the time, as just the name suggests ~slip into them~. I've had these ones from Kurt Geiger London for a while and been wearing them all summer long. I can wear them with dresses, skirts, jeans, trousers, the list is endless as they go with anything.

I'm liking these shoes with these H&M mom jeans; I find that mom jeans are quite difficult to find shoes to match but these go really well together. I put on a silk khaki green shirt to add a feminine touch to this otherwise masculine outfit. Accessorised with my cream Chanel bag as the colours just match perfectly. This would be a perfect late summer/autumn outfit I would wear over and over again.

5. With Trainers

I've paired these Adidas Superstar with my grey H&M mom jeans, cropped cashmere jumper and to keep everything grey, I've stuck with my new All Saints suede bag. These trainers are not something I usually buy but we were in Dubai while on a business trip and got stuck there a little bit longer than anticipated without any comfortable shoes. I had to buy them as they are so comfortable and go with many outfits.

I'm going back to grey and wearing my cropped cashmere jumper, grey mom jeans.

Which one was your favourite outfit?

Mine is the Backless Mules one, it's just so comfortable, stylish and easy to wear x
